In today’s society, we are subject to daily situations which can present continual low-grade stress.
Bad news, unrealistic deadlines, demanding job, unsupportive manager, commuting and traffic jams, illness… the list goes on. And then we end up with that continual low-grade stress that we seem to be able to manage. Then it can build to become more of a problem and then one additional ‘thing’ can just seem to be too much to bear.
Stress can result in physical symptoms such as headaches, nausea and stomach problems. Or feelings of overwhelm and being close to tears. I worked with a client recently who had to disappear to the loo in some work situations to try to regain a feeling of calm. After we had worked together she felt much more able to cope with the stresses of her work.
